    Regensburg (D)

Arnulfsplatz is located at the edge of the quiet, picturesque old town district of Regensburg. It is well proportioned, surrounded by historic buildings. Traffic volume is comparatively high. Approx. 60 buses stop at the stops every hour, making it more of a bus station. With tongue in cheek, the concept conveys images of the “showpiece” to emphasise the square’s tasks and override its primary function of traffic island. Standard lamps and carpet are the design elements used to denote the protected recreational areas, replace street furniture and act as road-crossing aids.
