• Residential building H1

    Erfurt (D)

According to the requirements – at least on the street side – we had to follow the model of the sloping roofs found on the very conventional neighbouring houses. We did this using a monolithic slate-clad pitch roof, though a double-storey white cube was placed on the south side, fully facing the garden and shaded with orange textile awnings. Instead of a garage, the grandfather was given a large ground-level terrace on the north-western side, protected from the sun.

  • Above his two-room apartment, the family living level with guest area can be accessed via a staircase. The spacious eat-in kitchen faces the garden, and can be used in many different ways thanks to sliding doors. The attic contains the bedrooms and the luxurious family bathroom.
