• Free school

    Heckenbeck (D)

A private initiative consisting of parents and teachers established this school in a rear building in a rural Lower Saxon community. Behind the rear building is a meadow which, if built up, could meet the growing demand for alternative school places. The teaching concept is based on the pedagogical philosophies of Montessori and Wild.

  • The school is designed for 100 pupils. We developed a barrier-free school building for the slightly sloping property; its main entrance is wheelchair-friendly, with a ramp acting as a main road through the school grounds and providing access to various areas and learning centres, using purely ecological building materials.
