• Prien am Chiemsee (D)

Train station surrounds and bus station

A spatial framework on the northern side transforms the inner city into an urban station square, while ponds and benches break up the southern end. The unsightly sides of the train station building will be replaced. The surrounding “arcade” enhances the square by ensuring it can be used in any weather. The building planned for the northern end of the square provides the necessary commercial space on the ground floor, with residential areas/service areas clustered around an interior courtyard above it. The diagonal roof design enables a contemporary interpretation of the gable ends facing the street on all sides.

  • The bus station is incorporated into the train station complex to the south, and is connected to it via the pedestrian “arcade”. Covered bike parking bays are planned for the southern arcade building.

Wendelstein Park will be developed and expanded. The new green space could potentially provide pedestrians and bike riders with access to Lake Chiemsee through an underpass, enhancing Prien am See’s image.
