The dilapidated old Villa Ziemsen fell victim to the wrecking ball some years ago.
The site has now given rise to a residential complex consisting of five vertical units. The “nested” design avoids the conventional terraced house look, fusing the entire structure into the “New Ziemsen”. Protrusions and recesses create private, sheltered garden areas, which are enhanced with rooftop terraces. The playing area in the garden is for communal use.

  • Overhanging upper levels facilitate zoning, generate a protected entrance area on the streetfront, and cover residents’ parking bays. The wooden finish of this area contrasts with the pale, exposed concrete blocks.
